Wendy has 20 years experience in employee wellness programming, chronic disease management, cardiac rehabilitation, and community health and wellness education . She holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, as well as a Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist from the American College of Sports Medicine.  Wendy loves being in the outdoors- skiing, biking, hiking and spending time with her family.

Nikki Dean, E-RYT 500, CES, BS

Wellness Neighborhood Program Coordinator

Nikki has been teaching yoga and stress reduction classes, privates, courses and workshops across the U.S. and internationally since 2003, with students ranging from cancer patients to professional athletes.  Formerly trained in the styles of Hatha, Kripalu and Vinyasa yoga, Nikk is also a certified Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep, guided meditation) teacher, a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist and holds a B.S. in Communications from Cornell University.  Her flowing teaching style emphasizes moving with breath to cultivate body awareness, inner strength and well being.  Nikki seeks to make yoga and meditation approachable and accessible to every body in every condition.  Integrating the practice of mindfulness into every session, Nikki hopes to inspire personal insights and connections that lead to deep and lasting healing of the body, mind and spirit.

Jackie Griffin, RN

Community Care Coordinator

Jackie Griffin, RN, BSN is the Care Coordinator for Tahoe Forest Hospital. She comes to this position after working for the past 9 years on the Medical- Surgical Unit at Tahoe Forest Hospital.  Her diverse 20-year nursing experience includes: In- patient Rehabilitation Admissions and Education Specialist, Orthopedic, Telemetry, Neurological and Geriatric Nursing experience as well as Director of Nursing in Long Term Care.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Nursing.

As Care Coordinator, Jackie works with people in the community who live with chronic illness.  She assists them with navigation of the health care system, improving access to Primary Care Practitioners, Community Resources and Specialists. Care Coordination is a patient- and family-centered, team-based model of care designed to promote self management and improved quality of life.  With the help of a multidisciplinary team, Jackie will be facilitating classes in Chronic Disease Self Management and Diabetic Self Management Programs in the community.   

Additionally, Jackie is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program Instructor.  She currently teaches this world-recognized and evidenced-based program throughout the Tahoe Area. 

Lizzy Henasey, MPH

Research and Program Development Planner

Lizzy has over 15 years of experience working in public health including health & hygiene education, capacity development, health behavior change, grant preparation, scientific research & data analysis, and overall program management.  She has been involved with many Wellness Neighborhood programs including Community Health Needs Assessments, Employee Fresh Produce Program, Know the Signs (suicide prevention) Awareness Campaign, Truckee North Tahoe Youth Health Initiative, Immunization Coalition and Dental Coalition.  Lizzy holds a Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and served in the Peace Corps as a Health & Hygiene Volunteer in the Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé, Panamá from 2003 to 2005.  In addition to spending time with her husband and two kids, she enjoys yoga, skiing, paddleboarding and travel.

Mary Hoffmann, RN; LCCE (Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator); ASPO/ Lamaze (American Society of Psychoprophylactics in Obstetrics); AHA Infant CPR Instructor

Prenatal Educator

Mary has enjoyed nursing since graduating from the College of Marin in 1978.  She received her childbirth education license from UCLA and became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator in 1991.  Mary has been teaching prenatal classes at Tahoe Forest Hospital since 2010.  She feels so blessed to be living at Lake Tahoe and is passionate about helping prepare couples for their birth journey.  Her classes are flexible in an effort to accommodate her clients needs.  In 2014, Mary became an American Heart Association Infant CPR Instructor and incorporated Infant CPR instruction to her classes.  Mary enjoys playing the piano, kayaking and hiking with her husband and four sons.

Eileen Knudson, RN

Community Health and Wellness Program Manager

Eileen has 40 years experience that span the health care spectrum from her volunteer work as a nurse in Somalia, Ethiopia, Pakistan as well as Peace Corps Ecuador to program development and implementation in Hospice, Oncology, and Community Health and Wellness.  Eileen is involved in implementing safe prescribing practices to reduce opioid abuse throughout the region, developing Tahoe Forest's Community Care Coordination Program and enhancing awareness around suicide and mental health.  She loves to read, hike, travel and especially loves spending time with her new grandson.

Maria Martin, MPH, RD

Director, Community Health and Wellness and Care Coordination


Maria has over 25 years experience in health promotion, education, program development and implementation.  Before taking on her new role as Director, Maria was part of a Health Promotions team at Tahoe Forest Hospital for 15 years.  She established the Truckee Tahoe Nutrition Coalition which provides hands on nutrition education to children and families, promotes environmental change to prevent childhood obesity, and works to improve the quality of school food and wellness policy implementation in the local school district.  She is passionate about helping communities and individuals achieve their best health and is currently working to expand care coordination and patient navigation resources throughout the Tahoe Forest Healthy System.  Maria is thankful that she has the opportunity to work with a dynamic and equally passionate team to bring high quality health resources and programming to the Truckee Tahoe community.  Maria received her Bachelors in Dietetics from the University of California at Davis and her Masters in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley.  In addition to her love of food and cooking, Maria is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, backpacking, and keeping up with her husband and three college-age sons.

Betsy JM Taylor, RDN

Betsy currently works as contract Dietitian for Tahoe Forest Hospital as well as in Private Practice at Tahoe Forest Women's Center.  She has expertise in counseling for Cardiac Health, Prenatal Nutrition, Allergies & Food Intolerances, Weight Management, Celiac Disease Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, Women's Health, Sports Nutrition and Gastrointestinal Health and is a Certified Counselor in Intuitive Eating.  Betsy holds a BS degree in Clinical Dietetics from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT and a BS degree in Nutrition Science from University of California, Davis, CA.  Betsy is well known for her Healthy Food Demonstrations and can be found hosting monthly Harvest of the Month Tastings in the Pine St Cafe as well as providing blood pressure counseling at the Affordable Lab Screenings.


Reyna Sanchez Correa

Community Health Advocate


As the Tahoe Forest Health System Community Health Advocate, Reyna serves as a liaison between community members, Tahoe Forest Health System and local organizations and agencies. Reyna is bilingual and understands the challenges Hispanic and Non-Hispanic community members experience in navigating the broader health care system.  She comes into the position with experience teaching living skills to disabled adult populations, as well as helping victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.  

The goal of the Community Health Advocate is to help community members experience fewer barriers in accessing health services, resources and information.  Reyna works closely with the Family Resource Center of Truckee and the North Tahoe Family Resource Center in organizing educational programming such as Stanford’s Chronic Disease Self Management Program and grief workshops.  

Jill Whisler, MS, RDN


Jill is a well-regarded expert in the field of nutrition, fitness, and wellness. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  She is a certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine and has completed the certification of both Adult and Pediatric Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She enjoys the challenge of sports nutrition, management of eating disorders and disordered eating, weight management, and child nutrition.

Jill is a World Class athlete. In her "free" time, Jill placed in the top 12 women in Arizona Ironman 2012. The past three years she has competed in the International Triathlon Association Worlds Championship for Olympic distance triathlon in London 2013, Canada in 2014 and Chicago 2015-placing 18th in the world, 6th for Team USA... all while balancing her three children under 12!

Sunee Zrno, LMFT

PRIME Care Coordinator

Sunee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years in the mental health field.  Her previous experience includes working as a peri-natal therapist in a residential women's addiction treatment facility in Burlingame, CA and providing counseling services to children in the foster care system in Nashville, TN.  When she moved to Truckee in 2009, she began working as a therapist at Sierra Mental Wellness Group and filled in briefly as the adult therapist for Nevada County Behavioral Health both with an emphasis on individuals with severe mental health diagnosis's.  She also held a small private therapy office for a couple of years.  Sunee started with Tahoe Forest Hospital in 2011 as the Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice and in that position she facilitated the community Grief Group for over five years.  She moved into a new position as a Care Coordinator with the PRIME program focusing on patients with chronic pain in June of 2016.  Sunee holds a Master's degree in Psychology with a combined emphasis on Marriage Family Therapy and Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA.  Sunee spends her free time enjoying moments with her husband and two young children, yoga, and as much beach time as she can get in the summer! 

Dana Dose, RDN


Dana is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator with a passion for coaching individuals through change to reach their healthiest self, and helping entire communities see their health potential.  She has over 9 years' experience improving health among individuals and populations and holds supportive certifications in Personal Training, Health and Wellness Coaching, and Adult Weight Management.  Dana loves working with groups, speaking in front of crowds, and counseling individuals on topics including weight management, diabetes prevention and management, eating healthy on a budget, pediatric nutrition, heart health, sustainable habits and more.  Additionally, she works periodically as the inpatient dietitian at Tahoe Forest Hospital where she has the opportunity to make an impact with patients who are admitted to the hospital.  She combines clinical knowledge with an education background and lifestyle coaching to provide a unique perspective to the Wellness Neighborhood team.

Dana has traveled and lived all over the United States, having grown up in Houston, TX, gone to college at the University of Vermont-Burlington, lived in Colorado and Kentucky, and then headed back to Austin, TX to complete the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at the University of Texas.  She has been in the Tahoe region since 2010, and settled down in North Lake Tahoe with her husband, toddler-aged daughter and two dogs to plant some roots as a Tahoe local.  With the beauty of the area, the active and kind people who inhabit Tahoe/Truckee, and opportunities for her and her family, she's here to stay!


Lisa Stekert, MSW, ACSW

Youth Health Navigator

Lisa graduated from University of Nevada, Reno with her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies and earned a Masters of Social Work from California State University, Sacramento.  She has worked in a variety of settings including as a Medical Social Worker for Renown Medical Center in Reno and Crisis Worker for Sierra Mental Wellness at Tahoe Forest Hospital.  Lisa enjoys being outdoors - skiing, cycling, hiking, yoga, paddleboarding and spending time with her family.
